What does this look like in practice for startups not using PLG? Or startups targeting enterprise companies first?

That still falls under growth! Sales or PLG, both intend to get more buyers for your product. This is really a warning for people who don't worry about distribution, build in stealth mode, and over-estimate product-market fit.
